Today is Going to be a Great Day.
Posted by: Toby Fischer in education, future, issues, tags: 21st century skills, great day, Voice RecorderI started my day off like most; shower, coffee, in the car for my 30 minute drive… Then the juices started flowing. I had a new thought. A potential solution to a dilemma I was faced with last week. Then, I hit a traffic jam that I knew was going to cause me to be a little late. Usually I start griping and looking for people to pass, not today. Today I pulled out my iPhone, opened the voice recorder app and started talking. The ideas were coming out faster than the rain of the day was coming down.
Then…
It hit me. I control this everyday. I don’t control everyone else. I control me. This is such a simple concept. Why don’t we all see it? In education there is so much to get overwhelmed with. Last week I sat at meeting and everything that came up boiled my blood a bit. Many of these decisions just didn’t make sense to me.
What I thought about today was, this is reality. How to I affect this reality positively? If I join the gripers, I just become part of the problem. I stop progress. As a leader in the area of 21century skills, it would be hypocritical for me to impede progress.
I’m not saying I am going to stop working for what I believe in. I am going to change how I frame things in my mind. If this is reality, what can I do to this reality to make it a positive one? I am going to make every day a great one!

Change has arrived in fundraising. I came across a website http://www.raisewhileyousave.com (RWYS) the other day when looking into Green fundraising oppurtunities, as I am fed up with my kids going door 2 door and selling cookie dough and magazines. I looked into this new fundraising program which is helping parents Save Money while raising money.they are also helping great causes which don’t have any budget to run a fundraiser, as they do all the work for you, by building you a webpage attached to thier website. Thier products are these really snazzy energy saving product kits, which can save parent $100’s of dollars on those bills we all hate to open. I thought I would share this information as we could all do with a little extra cash during this economy Im sure. My friend who is a PTA mom is always complaining about the difficulty of getting new ideas, and the lack of interest they have in the same old boring fundraising oppurtunities. I think this is very clever, as the schools and community fundraisers, don’t purchase anything, the kids don’t need to do anything, the kits save money and help raise money, and apparently they even send the kits out to the parents home, so PTA moms like my friend no longer need to chase moms around the playground to tell them thier products are in the sports hall for collection. we’ve all been there.

Hello,
I was scrolling through and I read your blog about your day. I really liked how you said today is a reality, the only person you can change is yourself. It made me think of the Secret CD. I am in control of my reality and if I chose to have a horrible day today, then that is how my day will go. Its good to see that someone else is also at that level where they are saying they want to positively effect their environment with their good attitude.
